Kayla Porter
Kayla C. Porter practices family-based and employment-based immigration law. As an Associate Attorney, Kayla handles a diverse caseload of immigration matters, including employment-based and family-based visas, compliance counseling, and representation before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
Kayla has experience in removal defense, asylum and humanitarian relief, immigrant and nonimmigrant visa petitions, motions practice, and compliance-related matters. She has represented children and other vulnerable immigrants in removal proceedings, asylum cases, and humanitarian petitions, and has litigated cases in Immigration Court and Texas state courts. Kayla is a former Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow.
Kayla’s practice includes family-based immigration, L-1 and L-2 visas, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, EB-1 and EB-5 petitions, investor and employment-based visas, adjustment of status, I-130 and I-140 petitions, and waivers. She also handles immigration court matters involving removal proceedings and suits against USCIS, and has assisted on cases involving waivers, prosecutorial discretion requests, and applications for cancellation of removal.
Kayla earned her Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School, where she concentrated in International and Comparative Law. She also studied international business law in Europe and holds advanced training in negotiation and mediation.
